“Yet God does not take away life, but plans ways so that the banished one will not be cast out from Him.”
2nd Samuel 14:14
This kind of ruins the idea that the Old testament God is a god of wrath, and not grace.
He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

there is no question about that. God is the same, yesterday, today and forever.
the question really is which administration are you in?
Mindy
savedbygraceI’m not sure I understand your question. Could you elaborate on administration?

My brain goes to “why do we tune out his mercy , gentleness and kindness in the Old Testament? Why do we focus on the wrath/judgmental side ?”. The OT is full of wonderful gems that show a loving God. Micah 6:8 comes to mind as well.

Jennifer VonI agree! He is a God of justice and love. But it’s hard to see Him as both. Thanks for sharing!

God is Judge, not just a Judge but a righteous Judge.
He is a righteous Judge that means, All sins must be punished.
God punished all our sins in the body of Jesus.
now, the question is this. which administration are you in?
under grace, of which you received the righteousness of Jesus by faith?
or under the old covenant? of which no sin goes unpunished?
God is Judge precisely because ‘who will Judge the wicked, the fallen angels, and Satan?’
the real question is this. Will God judge you?
if Jesus is your Advocate, seated at the right hand of the righteous Judge, will God judge you?
most Christians are living their lives under the old administration. under the old covenant. no way. we are to live under the newness of the Spirit, not on the old letter.
we are under the new covenant, the covenant of grace.
if God is to Judge your sins again, then God is not righteous.
the one who will survive the Judgement day, is the one whom Christ represents. the one who is clothe with the robe of Righteousness of Jesus.
when Jesus uttered ‘it is finished’ it is indeed finished. the temple veil is torn and the Spirit of God resides in us and it confirms to us when we cry ‘abba’. God has become our father. yes He is still Judge, but no longer to judge us. His Son Jesus, becomes our advocate – or our defence lawyer.
that is what I meant on which administration are we in 🙂
